After receiving a call from one of our club’s valued supporters – Peter, owner of Adelaide based Pulp Fiction Comics, located on King William Road Adelaide, Starship Mawson members jumped at the chance to test their collective knowledge once more and along with nearly 300 people, attended what was to be a great evening’s entertainment. The event host, Peter from Pulp Fiction Comics Ten rounds of a wide range of topics challenged a huge attendance with a lot of fun activities in between rounds to add to the evening and with the venue being The German Club of Adelaide, plenty of hearty food and refreshment simply enhanced one’s fun and appreciation for this event.

Starship Mawson’s annual tribute to B Grade Crappy sci fi film night certainly lived up to it’s name as the crappiest material that could be found was screened to a captive or should I say an audience that was held captive! as they were put through the agonising activity of viewing some really rotten sci fi.
As with past tribute night’s, there was plenty of fun and laughter from the audience,
more in amazement that such material was ever made I think but we all battled on and had a
fantastic evening and were left wondering just what will our panel of adjuticators come up with
next year!
Special thanks to Jo for hosting the event and to all members that attended.

Special guest in attendance was Adelaide 36ers National Basketball League Forward and League MVP - Mr Mark Davis, who, with his own table of competitors, along with the capacity audience, simply had a great time with all the fun of the quiznight which included the now famous "sing along section" a real highlight for all that exercised the vocal chords to earn extra points during the event!

As the evening went on each table had their photos taken and enjoyed a healthy indulgence of many varied foods and refreshments and spot quizzes with fantastic prizes were the order of the evening. Alas, our quest for greatness fell a trifle short as we were beaten out of second place by just two points but satisfaction was guaranteed and we will return in 2011 for another great night. Thanks to Eugenia for the cool Super Hero I.D. cards as our theme for the evening and to all members that attended.
What a great night we had! And true to form the movies lived up to their reputation.

It had been 25 years since Natcon had been conducted in Adelaide, a very long time between drinks indeed. Adelaide Sci Fi fans turned out for the event along with a large attendance of interstate and overseas guests which made for
a very busy four days of events. These included guest panels from Sci Fi and Fantasy Authors, Quiz Nights, Convention Ball,
trading dealers and fan club expo. These gave attendees plenty to see and do.
